{"id":292,"date":"2017-07-20T03:48:53","date_gmt":"2017-07-20T03:48:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/writeonyoga.com\/blog\/?p=292"},"modified":"2017-07-20T03:48:53","modified_gmt":"2017-07-20T03:48:53","slug":"all-stuck-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/writeonyoga.com\/blog\/2017\/07\/20\/all-stuck-up\/","title":{"rendered":"All Stuck Up"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry\">\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">So many of my students react to a pose that they find difficult by saying,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cI am so tight,\u201d or \u201cI can\u2019t do this pose,\u201d and<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>\u201cI will never be able to do this.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Well, if it is\u00a0true that your thoughts affect\u00a0actions then hanging out in a pose repeating that you will never change, assures that you will never change.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 And, that you will probably not even notice the subtleties of small, yet important changes.\u00a0<\/span>These thoughts keep you from relaxing in the pose which keeps you from flexibility<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/writeon-yoga.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/022Shelley-Studio-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-340 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/writeon-yoga.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/022Shelley-Studio-1-300x252.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 171px) 100vw, 171px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/writeon-yoga.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/022Shelley-Studio-1-300x252.jpg 300w, http:\/\/writeon-yoga.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/022Shelley-Studio-1-768x646.jpg 768w, http:\/\/writeon-yoga.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/022Shelley-Studio-1-1024x861.jpg 1024w\" alt=\"022shelley-studio-1\" width=\"322\" height=\"271\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">The second sutra in the first chapter of Patanjali\u2019s Yoga Sutras\u00a0it says \u00a0&#8220;Yoga is calming the fluctuations of the mind&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This is the fundamental meaning of Yoga. \u00a0Calming the mind is a result of practicing the Asana<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you do find yourself feeling \u201cstuck\u201d in a pose, go with it!<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>This is meditation in action.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Watch your breathing and\u00a0find the ease of movement\u00a0in the asana.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>By leaving your analyzing thoughts and moving your attention to your breathing, your mind quiets and that in itself is the key to experiencing the freedom within the asana, wherever you are.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Then with practice in calming the mind you relax\u00a0more in the pose.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">So the next time you find yourself in a pose that is hard, Go into the real Yoga.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Breathe deeply, wait, and watch your body slowly letting go.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The real question here is this:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Is your body stuck, or is your thinking stuck?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Do the practice and you will be surprised at the outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So many of my students react to a pose that they find difficult by saying,\u00a0 \u201cI am so tight,\u201d or \u201cI can\u2019t do this pose,\u201d and\u00a0\u201cI will never be able to do this.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Well, if it is\u00a0true that your thoughts affect\u00a0actions then hanging out in a pose repeating that you will never change, assures that you will never change.\u00a0 And,&hellip;
