{"id":304,"date":"2017-07-20T03:26:29","date_gmt":"2017-07-20T03:26:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/writeonyoga.com\/blog\/?p=304"},"modified":"2022-08-24T21:42:50","modified_gmt":"2022-08-24T21:42:50","slug":"the-walk-of-anti-aging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/writeonyoga.com\/blog\/2017\/07\/20\/the-walk-of-anti-aging\/","title":{"rendered":"THE WALK OF ANTI-AGING"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">On a walk with a girlfriend at a nearby nature preserve I suggested that we slow our walk down and practice the Buddhist meditation walk.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>A\u00a0mindfully slow, careful walk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">My friend is a full bodied woman. \u00a0She is a doer. \u00a0A doer for others more then herself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Her walk reflects this. \u00a0Part of her is moving fast forward and part of her is lagging behind.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Basically speaking, Bringing everything to her center and lifting\u00a0upward as she brought her breath\u00a0up along\u00a0the length of her spine. The transformation was instant.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>She became aware of her body feeling the muscles of her\u00a0thighs, hips, and abs being used and toning effortlessly.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">What I saw was the change in her face as she\u00a0reflected confidence and calm. She was moving with the ease of walking with a natural effortless harmony of breathing each thoughtful step. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Being centered and present in her own body allowed her to take the time to reconnect with herself as she was moving with a natural balance<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Walking mirrors\u00a0the attitude of how we DO life.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Moving forward faster then our feet can carry us with our\u00a0head moving ahead of the rest of our\u00a0torso, is an attitude of trying to hard and moving away from the moment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">One meaning of Yoga\u00a0is the\u00a0alignment of the individual mind with a Higher mind.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 Through yoga\u00a0<\/span>we have an opportunity to practice staying in the moment.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Step by step keeping our head in line with the rest of our spine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">With all the thousands of Yoga classes, articles, and people learning to be teachers how much of this information is\u00a0transferred to\u00a0practical\u00a0focus \u00a0on Walking? \u00a0 How we carry ourselves is the culmination of the application of yoga. \u00a0It also reflects so many aspects of one\u2019s attitude in life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Walking, standing, and sitting in day to day movement with all of its applications is a continual study as long as I have a body that experiences changes, pains and re-adjustments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It seems like a logical first step would be to watch how we can carry the teaching of yoga into the application of practical movement. \u00a0The practical application is what keeps me intrigued as it becomes a puzzle that fits together in a beautiful natural woven pattern.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">So why not start with the simplicity\u00a0of posture. \u00a0 Posture in movement and take more care in how YOU walk! \u00a0Slow down and be with yourself from your feet up to your head. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Now let\u2019s go for that walk.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On a walk with a girlfriend at a nearby nature preserve I suggested that we slow our walk down and practice the Buddhist meditation walk.\u00a0\u00a0A\u00a0mindfully slow, careful walk.
